We've been providing surf lessons at Croyde Bay since 1996. Conveniently located next to the beach, we offer a variety of award-winning lesson choices to ensure we can meet your needs.
We cater our surf lessons for a range of groups here at Surf South West. From corporate team building activities to stag and hen do's to remember (and anything inbetween!), we're here to help you have the best surfing experience at Croyde Bay!
Coasteering is a low skill, big thrill activity where you’ll be guided over rocks to jump into the sea, swim through gullies and experience the N Devon coastline as never before.
We invite women and girls to come learn to surf in a fun and supportive environment. Sessions are led by qualified female surf instructors with all abilities and ages welcome..
We’ve teamed up with our favourite yogi to bring you a great weekend of yoga and surfing. We can promise sandy toes, salty hair and lots of feel-good factor.

National vocation beach lifeguard qualification
This course is open to anyone looking to gain an internationally recognised beach lifeguard qualification in the UK. This is an essential requirement for anyone looking to work as a surf instructor or work as a beach lifeguard. The full course is suitable for those new to lifeguarding and is run over 5 days including a final assessment. There is also the option of a shorter course for existing beach lifeguards looking to requalify, this is run on the last 3 days of each course.

Our training centre is based at Croyde beach in North Devon and with two other beaches nearby, it is the perfect location to offer a range of surf conditions to train in. The course is run by a team of experienced watermen and qualified RLSS trainers, all of who are qualified lifeguards and surf instructors working on the beach and in the sea every day.
The training on the course requires you to complete both practical and theory modules. You will spend time in the sea as well as completing classroom based theory sessions. The course cost includes the comprehensive RLSS Beach Lifeguard Qualification manual providing an essential resource for all lifeguards. You will be required to pass all modules to gain your qualification. All candidates on the course will be assessed on the final day by an RLSS assessor, who will be looking for good knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
There is also a swimming assessment in a 25 metre pool where candidates are required to complete a 400m swim in under 8 minutes.

NOTE: We require a deposit of £50 per person to secure a place and then the balance is due four weeks prior to the course. When we have received full payment a full information pack will be sent out with arrival information, timings and an itinerary for the course.
All courses can be combined with our Surfing England/I.S.A. Level Instructor course held over 2 days on the weekend after each of these courses.
