Put the children on course for an active holiday

Early Surfers

Let the children surf the waves instead of the Internet at Surf South West (01271 890400/www.surfsouthwest.com).  Lessons are at Croyde Bay, a lovely sandy place popular with surfers for its Atlantic rollers.  There is an introduction on safety and techniques and coaching is geared to all levels, including beginners.

After the first lesson most students can catch the waves lying on their board and lesson two should see them standing up.  Courses cater for children aged eight and over (under-10s must be accompanied by an adult).
