School and Community Group Bookings with Surf South West
About us
2008 marks our 13th year as the premier surfing centre in the UK and Surf South West is proud to be the first surf school in Europe to be awarded Level 4 status by the British Surfing Association. This is the highest level attainable and is awarded in recognition that Surf South West has the highest standards of coaching.
Health and Safety
The safety of participants on our courses is our number one priority. Surf South West adhere to the British Surfing Association group coaching ratios of 1 instructor to 8 students if under 18 years of age and 1 instructor to 10 students if over 18 years of age. All Surf South West instructors are British Surfing Association qualified and hold a current Royal Life Saving Society Beach Lifeguard Award.
Surfing is considered a safe “inshore" activity by the A.A.L.A. and therefore they do not issue licences to surf schools. However Surf South West follows all A.A.L.A. guidelines as well as recommendations and guidelines set out by the British Surfing Association. All instructors with school groups have been checked through the Criminal Records Bureau, and all senior coaches have attended ‘Good Practice and Child Protection’ workshops, run by Sports Coach UK. We are happy to provide risk assessment documents, C.R.B. check details, our insurance policy and instructor qualifications.
Courses
We offer a wide range of courses and can usually accommodate all requests. Some groups will visit us for a half day ‘taster’ session while others visit for a whole week. A popular option for local groups is to book a set time each week to spread a longer course over a number of weeks. Contact us with your group’s individual requirements and we will do our best to customise your surfing course.
2008 rates
We are able to offer considerable discounts to school and community groups and we are pleased to announce that we are holding our 2005 rates for 2006:
Groups of 10 or more (per person):

All the above costs include use of a surfboard and wetsuit, tuition, and use of the storage and changing facilities at the surf school.
Full day and half day courses are available at these rates at all times Monday to Friday. On weekends, half day courses are available at 9.00am and 3.00pm Saturday and 1.30pm Sunday. Accommodation and other activities
We can also assist with sourcing accommodation for your group with a range of options including campsites, camping barns, backpackers, B&Bs and hotels. If surfing is included as part of a multi-activity week, we can put you in touch with other activity providers.

We just wanted to say a big thank you to all those involved in our surfing day with you. We had a terrific time and even those who were really nervous and had never surfed before came out of the sea loving it! In fact we loved it so much we're planning a weekend trip down to Croyde in the next couple of months, to enhance our new found surfing skills.
Once again thank you so much, we will definitely recommend you to anyone else we know who wants to learn to surf.
