The Atlantic coast of France is famed for miles of endless beaches, consistent surf and long summer days. Our chosen location in France is Lacanau, situated west of Bordeaux and known as one of Europe’s finest beach breaks.
Air temperatures range from 18 to 24°C and water temperatures 17 to 21°C(70°F)… Summer wetsuits and boardshorts required.
The Accommodation
Accommodation is situated within a spacious holiday park nestled among a pine forest with private beach access a mere 5 minute walk through the dunes.
The lodges are fully self contained with two bedrooms, kitchen, lounge/diner, bathroom and sundeck. Camping can also be arranged in Lacanau, simply bring your own tent and pitch it among the spacious grounds!
The park has a swimming pool, tennis court, supermarket, bar and restaurant on site but due to sympathetic development it does not have the atmosphere of a large, commercial holiday park.

The Location
Lacanau is easily accessible from the UK with a 1½ hour flight from Gatwick to Bordeaux. The town has a number of surf shops as well as plenty of bars and restaurants for some lively apres-surf, and is just a short walk from your accommodation.
The waves in front of the park are generally uncrowded, with many peaks to choose from and is perfect for all surfing abilities!
Other Activities
Wine tasting – famous vineyards nearby. Mountain biking - fabulous trails through the forest, bike hire available on site. Tennis court - on site. Beach Volleyball – court on site. Table-tennis on site. Windsurfing – lake nearby. Fishing – lake nearby.
Flights
Surf South West do not book flights, however we can assist you in obtaining good prices from Robinson Travel, a retail agent for an ATOL holder. We will negotiate the provisional arrangements for your flights that are appropriate to your itinerary and then put you in touch direct with Robinson Travel for you to pay and book your flights. In return Robinson Travel will confirm your flight times and invoice you separately. Please note that we do not take payment for flights ourselves, however by ensuring that you are booking with a retail agent for an ATOL holder you can be assured that your flights are financially protected under an ATOL licence. Just a quick word of thanks for your part in making our time in Lanzarote such a great success. We had a brilliant time which exceeded both our expectations. We were both impressed by your instructors approach; they both struck an excellent balance between providing professional coaching guidance whilst also being very approachable, encouraging and supportive with respect to their offers of help. We both feel we benefited considerably given our lack of ability.
I personally feel that I progressed more in my time with them in five days in the water than I have over the last six months faffing around trying to teach myself!
