Its that time of year again. The spring equinox has passed and there will now officially be more daylight hours than nighttime. The clocks are about to go forward, allowing the much anticipated after work surf session, which can only mean one thing. Its time to open our doors for our 2017 season.
One of the questions we get asked the most at the surf school is ‘what do we do in the winter?’ The simple answer is we all go surfing, but some of us get to do it a little bit more than others. During our winter months, it’s a good time to maintain all our kit, plan ahead for everything that we have going on for the new season and get on top of all the admin. For our full time staff, this can be done while still enjoying surfing the many swells we get at home during the winter months. However, all our staff like to take the opportunity to get away to somewhere where the water is warm and a more tropical shade of blue than we get at home.
Most of our instructors have been coaching with us for many years and have a set routine of where they like to go during the winter months. There are a number of destinations around the globe that our instructors travel to so they can get their quota of warm water waves. Sri Lanka, South Africa and various locations across Indonesia are the go to places. However, as Easter is just around the corner, everyone is now starting to return to Devon ready to start coaching for the season.
We are now open and running lessons everyday until November 2017. As always our usual crew of instructors will be coaching with us during 2017. We are looking forward to sharing some waves with you all in North Devon during the year.
